So thrilled to have Toronto Maple Leafs legend Mats Sundin join us this week. Mats is an 18 year National Hockey League Veteran and in 1989, was the first European to be selected first overall in the NHL Entry Draft. Sundin is best known as a Toronto Maple Leaf where he was Team Captain for 11 years and is the current Leaf’s franchise record holder for most goals and most points. He finished his career with a “point-per-game” pace scoring 1,349 points in 1,346 games and is the only Swedish-born player to score 500 goals in the National Hockey League. He won three gold medals at the IIHF World Championship and was the Captain of Team Sweden when they captured the 2006 Olympic Gold Medalin 2012 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, becoming only the second Swede behind the legendary Börje Salming to be indicted at that time, and in 2017 was named one of the “top 100 players in NHL history”Sundin's his latest accomplishment ??? Bernie Nicholls, who still holds the Los Angeles King's franchise record for most goals in a single season, joins us today! He is one of only of 4 players in NHL history to score 70 goals or more, and finish with 150 points or more in a single season. The other 3 to accomplish this are Phil Esposito, Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. Bernie played in 1127 NHL games, for 6 different NHL teams and finished his career in 2006 with over a ‘point per game’ pace with 1,209 points.
